Recognition
Recognition
“I am doing what I know to do, and I still do not know whether I am really hearing Him.”
That uncertainty can make listening feel fragile. You pray. You read. You slow down. And still, part of you wonders whether you are missing Him.
Often the hidden assumption is this: if I do this right, His voice will be obvious.
But recognition does not grow that way.
“My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.” — John 10:27
Jesus does not describe recognition as a technique. He describes it as something formed inside a relationship.
You learn His voice by remaining with Him, not by mastering the moment.
Recognition is formed through relationship, not achieved through precision.
We look for certainty in the method instead of familiarity with the Shepherd.
That is why staying matters. Not because every moment becomes clear, but because over time His voice becomes less strange to us.
Today, return to Scripture without pressing for immediate certainty. Stay with what is already clear.
Lord, keep me near You long enough to know Your voice. Free me from trying to force clarity. Form recognition in me through relationship, not performance.
Nearness does not mean I recognize Him.
