Expectancy
We want God to move.
Not eventually. Now. We bring our questions, our need, our urgency, and we want some sign that something is happening.
“Wait for the Lord; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the Lord.” — Psalm 27:14
Waiting on God is not the same as trying to get Him to respond on our timeline.
That is the shift. Expectancy is not demand. Demand says, “Answer me now.” Expectancy says, “I believe You are here, even if You do not move at my pace.”
It is like sitting in a waiting room where you do not control the door. You can pace. You can check the clock. You can rehearse your frustration. None of that brings the answer faster. It only reveals how badly you want control.
A listening life stays open without trying to manage the conversation.
Today, bring one unresolved thing before God and leave it there. Tell Him the truth about what you want, but do not force an answer.
Where have I turned waiting into pressure?
Lord, teach me to wait without grasping. Keep me from turning my urgency into demand. Help me trust that You are present, even when You do not move at the pace I want.
Waiting is not wasted when it is done before God.
